Colorado, the
"Centennial State" has a population of over 5,029,000 and an unemployment rate
of 8.5% as of August 2011. Though much of the state is covered by the great
Rocky Mountains and the western edge of the Great Plains, the booming metropolis
of Denver has become a cultural and economic hub. It is one of the few states in
the United States with both a growing population and growing industry. The per
capita personal income of $51,940 ranks 11th in the nation, and the cost of
living is significantly cheaper than many states whose per capita income is
higher.
Colorado is home to the national headquarters of many major brands. The federal
government is also a huge player in the economy, housing many of its programs
there. Agriculture is also a lucrative business. The National Parks also employ
many Coloradoans, as 37% of the area in the entire state is designated as National
Park.
Job seekers headed to Colorado will find that although it may be tough to find
work, like anywhere in the United States, the state is full of opportunity. Not
only does Colorado offer jobs in several different realms, but it also offers a
high level of income potential.
