About... Situated on I-35,
half way between the cities Dallas and Austin, Waco occupies an
interesting spot in the Texas cultural divide. Business and
Republican values dominate Dallas while Austin aims to keep
itself and Texas “weird.” Waco’s personality draws strongly from
both these sources.
Waco's economy revolves around government, medicine and education.
The city is home to the seat of McLennan County, Baylor University
and the regional healthcare facility, the Providence Health Center.
In addition, 20,000 daily commuters journey in to the city’s
downtown area.
Culturally, the city known as “The Heart of Texas” is a diverse
mixture of the Old West, Spanish influence and a modern
perspective. While the city has attractions such as the Texas
Sports Hall of Fame and the Texas Ranger Museum, it is also boasts
the Mayborn Museum Complex and the Waco Mammoth site.
This city, founded on the site of the first major bridge to ford
the wide Brazos River, is steeped in history and Texas pride. It
provides excellent opportunities for business, security for its
citizens and a wonderful cultural milieu for its
artists.
