About... Virginia Beach is
the most populated city in Virginia, with a population of nearly
half a million. This seaside city attracts millions of dollars
in tourist revenue as visitors flock to the extensive beaches,
restaurants, and entertainment establishments. Home to a massive
aquarium, an outdoor amphitheater that hosts several annual
festivals, and numerous buildings on the National Register of
Historic Places, Virginia Beach is full of culture and
history.
The United States
military is a large employer in the city. The Navy’s Naval Air
Station Oceana is the largest employer. The Navy also hosts the
Training Support Center Hampton Roads, the Army’s Fort Story is
located in the city’s boundaries.
Farms around the city
offer fresh produce at local farmer’s markets. The agricultural
community also contributes millions of dollars to the city’s
economy with diverse crops that include wheat, dairy, and horse
breeding.
A diverse economy has
kept this city strong and growing. New residents will enjoy the
myriad tourist activities, cultural events including the Neptune
Festival and American Music Festival, and the area’s colonial
history. With so many employment fields to choose from, it’s
surprising that more people are not moving to Virginia
Beach.
