About... The largest city
in the Mid South, Memphis is the economic powerhouse that drives
a three state region that includes western Tennessee, eastern
Arkansas and northern Mississippi. In addition to its own
diversified economy, the “River City” is an important
transportation hub. It sits adjacent to the Mississippi River
and has five major rail lines plus three interstate highways
running through it .
Memphis International Airport is the busiest cargo airport in the
United States and serves as the primary hub for FedEX. Other
Fortune 500 companies with headquarters in the city are
International Paper and Autozone.
The city is also renowned for its broad range of cultural
activities. It is revered as the inspiration for many artists in
the gospel, blues and rock and roll genres. Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny
Cash, Elvis Presley and Otis Redding all got their start in the
town and Elvis’ legendary mansion, Graceland, is just outside the
city limits.
Downtown Memphis has gentrified in the last decade and is now the
home of the South Main Arts District with many galleries, museums
and loft spaces. The city offers plenty of opportunities for both
businesses, employees and families.
