Located in the
high desert of Antelope Valley, Lancaster is a mecca for those
who love the outdoors. The city is renowned for its hiking
trails, bikeways and off-road trails. The city also boasts a
number of equestrian groups that take advantage of the
astounding beauty of the Mojave Desert.
The downtown area
focuses on the local community. In addition to the monthly
street fair and farmers’ market, "Celebrate Downtown Lancaster",
the city also hosts an annual gem and mineral shoe, a
professional go-cart event and numerous art galleries,
restaurants and shops.
Lancaster is also home
to one of only three musical highways in the world. This one was
installed with much fanfare by the Honda Company of America but,
due to residential complaints, had to be paved over just a few
short weeks later. The road was then relocated to a point
several miles away and now plays the Lone Ranger Theme whenever
a car passes over it.
This city on the edge
of the Mojave Desert enjoys beautiful weather, spectacular
sunsets and a welcoming atmosphere. It is an excellent place fro
everything from raising a family to enjoying retirement. The
pace may be slow but the excitement is ever present.
