About... Garden Grove,
California sits in beautiful Orange County. Originally a small
rural town, the introduction of a railroad station created an
agricultural boom. After World War II, the town became a city.
In the 1980s, Asian immigrants doubled the city’s population.
Today, the city honors its roots with an annual Strawberry
Festival that feeds into the strong tourism-based economy.
Every Memorial Day weekend, a quarter of a million people come to
the city to enjoy strawberry shortcake, a parade and carnival
rides. Throughout the rest of the year, tourists enjoy the
beautiful California weather, annual Shakespeare Festival and local
theatre.
Some of the area’s largest employers include Hyatt Regency, which
has built several large hotels in the city’s downtown. Other major
industries include manufacturing and healthcare. Outside of the
city limits, agricultural is still big business.
While Garden Grove has less than two hundred thousand residents,
the city has the second highest Vietnamese population of any
American city. Little Saigon is home to many family-owned
restaurants and businesses. An annual Lunar New Year festival is
held during the winter months.
If you’re looking for a strong economy, a diverse place to raise a
family or somewhere you can always find fresh pho, Garden Grove has
what you’re looking for.
