About... Fayetteville is
the third largest city in the state of Arkansas, located in
Washington County in the Boston Mountains. It is home to the
University of Arkansas, as well as the annual Wal-Mart
Shareholders meetings.
Due to Wal-Mart's presence and influence in the area, Fayetteville
has seen better economic growth than other U.S. cities, with an
unemployment rate of only 5% (low in comparison to national
averages). The presence of other Fortune 500 companies, such as
Murphy Oil, Tyson Foods, and J.B. Hunt has also kept the local
economy stimulated, primarily through their associations with the
University of Arkansas.
Fayetteville's opportunities for education and employment,
business-building, the manageable cost of living and doing
business, and the low crime rate have made it one of Forbes' "Best
Places for Business and Careers" in 2010.
