Located just a
short distance north of Dallas, the diverse city of Denton is
known for educational opportunities, its diverse range of
interesting festivals and especially for its love of music.
Denton may be characterized as a college town but its tastes and
its pursuits are spread much wider than that.
While the independent
music scene is certainly supported by the students of the
University of North Texas and the Texas Women’s University, the
annual Arts and Jazz Festival attracts a nationwide audience of
over 200,000 people each year. Other noteworthy musical
celebrations include the Fiesta on the Square and SXSW
competitor, 35Denton.
Denton has also not
forgotten its Western roots. It plays host to the North Texas
State Fair and Rodeo which draws over 100,000 people annually.
All of the usual rodeo events are held as well and the venue
also provides a full lineup of the best in country
music.
The city known as
“Little d” to differentiate it from its neighbor to the south
has created an excellent atmosphere for students, couples and
families. It is an excellent place to get an education, raise a
family or start a new career.
