About... Named for the
discoverer of America, Columbus is the capital and largest city
in the “Buckeye State,” Ohio. Not only is it centrally located
in the geographic center of the state, but it is ideally located
as a corridor between the Northeast and the Midwest.
Almost unbelievably, the city is within a one day drive of 50% of
the American population and over two thirds of its manufacturing
capacity. All roads may eventually led to Rome, but most of them go
through the “Discovery City” first.
The economy of Columbus is encompasses every sector from insurance
and banking to healthcare and technology with a healthy dose of
fashion, food and energy mixed in. Nationwide insurance, the
retailers, Big Lots and The Limited, plus Cardinal Health and
American Electric power are all headquartered here.
For the past five years, the political and corporate leaders of
Columbus devoted much time, energy and money to diversifying their
businesses and the general business climate. The result was a city
largely unaffected by the recent downturn in the economy. The city
is well placed to excellent opportunities for businesses as well as
employees or for the aspiring student as Ohio State
University.
