About... Coeur d'Alene is a
beautiful city with a four-season climate located in Kootenai
County, Idaho. It is the largest city in this county, the county
seat, and the second largest metropolitan area in the entire
state of Idaho.
The economy in Coeur d'Alene was originally based on mining,
healthcare, manufacturing, and hospitality. Tourism has helped the
economy and population expand, as word has gotten out about what
beautiful sites one could see by visiting the city. Tourists come
for the sights, the weather, and the ski resorts, which aren't far
from Coeur d'Alene.
In recent years,
retail, entertainment (including a movie theater), restaurants,
and hotels have been built, creating additional jobs and
bringing even more people to visit.
CEO and president of the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce, Steve
Wilson predicts that 2012 will provide "modest" growth for
businesses. There are some encouraging happenings in the
construction, but it is predicted that production won't start
booming again until all of the properties in foreclosure throughout
the county are taken care of.
Slowly but surely, it
looks like the economy will stabilize again for this
city.
