About... The largest city
in the “Tar Heel State,” Charlotte has seen a fundamental change
in its economy over the past few decades. Originally dependent
upon the tobacco and furniture manufacture, the “Crown Town,”
has seen the emergence of engineering, biotech and, most
notably, banking and financial services. In fact, it is the
second leading financial center in the United States after New
York City.
Seven Fortune 500 companies base their headquarters in this jewel
of a city including Bank of America, Ally Financial, Duke energy,
Family Dollar and the Goodrich Corporation. Charlotte is not all
business,. However, and houses much of the NASCAR administrative
offices as well as the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Energy production is also a significant sector in this magnificent
southern town that now bills itself as “The New Energy Capital” of
the United States. Leading companies in electric, natural gas and
geothermal power production all have significant presences
here.
The growth of Charlotte is expected to continue as it has looked
forward and not backward. Its spectacular investments in education
and technology bring ever greater rewards to this wonderful city
with a singular Southern charm.
